Description
| In Context is a trio with a lesser-known take on the things around us all. They combine notable elements from genres of almost any taste; blues, jazz, rock, hip-hop, reggae, funk, pop, acoustic and more. To put it simply, if the group likes how it sounds, it's in the mix. Currently playing small starting gigs in the Rochester area, In Context is working on recording their first EP (between instrument tracking in Joey's basement and post-production and mastering done in Jared's home). In the future, the group hopes to make a noticeable impact on many, continuing the idea of many before them that music is a fantastic emotional tool. It is meant for all to create, explore and enjoy. |

History
| The group was formed in December 2010, when Jared Wilson approached Joey VanLeeuwen asking him to practice a small four-song set with him for a Battle of the Bands competition he was billed for in January. After only a couple of practices, the duo felt the potential for a much larger-scale project. They continued to perform live without a name, while in the meantime looking for a bassist to round out the cast into a trio. They discovered Drake Noto through a response to a Craigslist posting seeking someone to become a hopeful addition. Finally, with a bassist, drummer, and lead guitarist/vocalist, they set up a weekly practices, and began recording some of their original works for an EP. At some point or another, they adapted the name "In Context", as a show of how the group's collage-like use of influences always manages to keep each separate piece of their music noticeable and enjoyable. |
