Patrick, Chris, Erin, and Ivan - four classically trained musicians with a passion for rock. This is Break of Reality - three cellists and a drummer who have defied the boundaries of classical music and created a completely original and organic sound, defined by listeners and fans as Heavy Cello Thunder.
Break of Reality was formed in 2003 at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. Although the group started as a casual side project, the members quickly recognized its vast potential and became increasingly committed to the group. Now, three years later, Break of Reality has reached thousands of listeners in New York and around the world. They have performed at popular New York City venues such as The Knitting Factory and Joe’s Pub at the Public Theatre and have entertained eager college audiences at prominent schools such as Cornell University and Columbia University.
Break of Reality has released two independent albums—Voiceless (2004) and The Sound Between (2006)—which have sold thousands of copies here in the United States and around the world in countries such as Germany, Finland, Australia, England, Canada, and Brazil. Break of Reality is currently composing and preparing for the release of their next album.
As students at the world renowned Eastman School of Music, the members of Break of Reality are experienced, educated, and versatile performers. Their musicianship, enthusiasm, and talent amaze and captivate a highly diverse range of listeners; classical opera buffs, rappers, hard rock head bangers, business professionals, college students, and just about everyone in between are mesmerized by their music.
