History
Reporter has been a staple on the Rochester music scene, serving up performances of unparalleled quality and causing wholly unchecked enthusiasm among audience members since the early 80's. The band started (as so many have) when a group of affable but somewhat misdirected college boys got together to find a way to get into local bars without having to pay the cover charge. Oh, yes, and to meet girls. In this case, the college was SUNY Geneseo. The result was the formation of a surprisingly decent rock band that played cover tunes spot-on and kept audiences interested by displaying their self-deprecating humor and collective boyish charm. The band paid their dues playing the bar scene in and around western New York, saving lots of money on cover charges but not having much success with girls. Along the way, they shared the stage with the likes of Aerosmith, Eddie Money, Eric Burdon, and even Rosie O'Donnell and Donny Osmond (not at the same time though, thank God)! They appeared on Ed McMahon's Star Search in 1987 (we won't talk about how that turned out) and have headlined record-breaking outdoor festival shows in the Rochester area. These days, Reporter. continues to deliver the goods as Rochester's most engaging party and wedding band (they still play the occasional club). Rich, Steve, Steve and Sam are enjoying the heck out of the current Reporter. experience and are looking forward to keeping the franchise going for another 25-or-so years. |
