Description
The new urban sound is coming to the Latin music world with SoulBodega. The explosive trio made up of Figueroa, Jinetero and Ray Skilla brings you the best of the Caribbean, combing a flavorful blend of Puerto Rico, Cuba and the Dominican Republic into a unique style of Latin Hip-Hop. Each of them is characterized by their unique voice, lyrics and style.
All three have a musical and performing background as soloist. Figueroa and Jinetero met in Florida in 2004, where they causally started rapping together. They had talked about forming a band, but they never really did so. While Jinetero moved to NYC, Figueroa went back to his hometown Buffalo, NY where he met Ray Skilla an underground hip hop lyricist and producer. Both started working together and during one of Jienetero’s visits to Buffalo, Figueroa introduced him to Ray Skilla. The trio instantly connected and decided to combine their talent and creativity to create SOULBODEGA.
All three shared a common vision of what Spanish hip hop and urban music means: innovative, original sounds combined with fun, yet deep lyrics that everyone can relate to. SOULBODEGA brings a fresh, new style where they infuse Latin hip hop with sounds of salsa, reggae, house, funk and jazz.
Their music is inspired by real life struggles, joys and adventures that Latinos experience on a daily basis. The diversity of SOULBODEGA’S members allows them to provide an international point of view on the political and social conflict issues that they address in their lyrics.
SOULBODEGA did their first performance at Nietzsche’s in Buffalo, NY where they were highly acclaimed by the public. They are producing their fist album together called “PASOS CORTOS, VISTA LARGA”, which will include their hits “Pa’ Fuera”, “Retirate”, “Universal”, “Soul Bodega”, and “Mueve tu Cuerpo”. They come together and make songs that appeal to all kinds of people and are hoping to offer the world a new vibrant sound.
The Bodega is the convenience store of the community; SOULBODEGA is your source for a delicious new flavor of hip hop. You will find songs in English, Spanish and Spanglish, something mouth watering for every hip-hop lover’s taste buds. The Bodega is open to all who want to reach a new level of consciences within the hip hop culture.
