History
The Kristen Maxfield Band has been thrilling NYC's music scene for two years with their modern old school R&B sound. Fronted by vocal powerhouse Kristen Maxfield, the band’s fresh, soulful sound gets audiences on their feet from the first note and keeps them there to the last bar of the set. Co-conspirators Maxfield and Dan Stein (keyboards) have combined elements of old school R&B, Motown soul, ‘70’s funk, modern hip-hop, and classic songwriting into a powerful, inspiring sound that grabs the listener’s ear, engages the brain, and gets the booty in gear. Maxfield’s vocals, which go from sultry, smoky, and sweet to diesel-train power at the drop of a hat, are anchored by the muscular groove of a band steeped in the traditions of old-school R&B, jazz improvisation, and modern hip-hop. With the release of their 2009 EP, Whatcha Waitin’ For?, the Kristen Maxfield Band stands ready to explode out of the New York music scene with a bang.
